Citta Sant Angela map.jpg

We live in the town of Citta' Sant'Angelo in the San Martino Bassa area.   Our apartment is about 10 minutes to the beach, 10 minutes up a hill to the old town.  The mountains are about 45 minutes away.  The city of Pescara, 20 minutes away, has a train and bus station and an airport.

Quick catch up

I see that my last post was end of March. And a lot has happened! In chronological order:

1. I had a goal of taking the theory test for my driving license before the arrival of our first set of guests on April 26. But that didn’t work. I just didn’t feel ready. So I delayed my plan.

2. Several months ago, our dear friends Denise Tracy and Bill Decker surprised us when they wrote that they wanted to come visit. Did they know where we live? It’s kinda remote… They arrived April 26, and we made a great trip out of their visit. We drove to Rome a couple of days before and visited Ostia Antica. We picked them up at Fiumicino and drove to Sorrento. From there we toured Herculaneum and Pompeii. Fabulous tours! We brought them to our Abruzzo home and introduced them to our friends and neighbors, arranged a tour of the Casalanguida Band Museum, and took them to a trabocca for dinner. Denise taught Maria and me to do Tai Chi. See all the photos here.

3. I set the date to take the theory test on May 17, just before the arrival of our second set of guests as well as the owners of the house. Maybe it was too soon. I failed. I will try again in July.

4. Julia and Valerij, owners of the house we rent, arrived for their Spring vacation here. Mike and I decided to leave for a few days so they could have the house to themselves. We went to Citta’ San Angelo, a cute hill town just north of Pescara, for a couple of days. When we returned, we had a nice visit with them. They are such kind, warm people.

5. Our friends Diana and Jim Quinn from Atlanta arrived on the 23rd. The house is big enough for all of us, but Julia and Valerij decided to take off and go visit Bari for a few days. We enjoyed taking Diana and Jim to Roccascalenga Castle and to Vasto to see the Adriatic. See photos here.

6. Our daughter Caroline arrived on June 5 for 12 days. But that’s a whole other blog.

I know this is short, so be sure to take a look at the photos. We’ve done so much!
