On Board the  "Ovation of the Seas"

We'll be spending lots of time on board this fantastic ship, "Ovation of the Seas."  This page is devoted to all the fun things we'll be doing and the people we meet.

Dancing -- Rumba!

Life on board is certainly interesting.  Several people had asked about the size of our cabin (aka stateroom).  Actually, it's bigger than we had expected.  Having the balcony certainly makes it feel spacious.  It is, however, like living in a tiny house.  Very efficient.  As expected, we do not spend much time in it.

There are about 4,000 passengers on board.  We're told that about half are from the UK, but you wouldn't know that as you walk around.  So many different languages!  Once we embark at Dubai, there will be a major shift change in the crew.  Sixty percent of the crew will be Chinese, as the ship will be permanently sailing in Asian seas.

I must admit that I am surprised at how casual people dress.  I carefully chose my better clothes, but not so for others.

We have wandered around the ship enough now that we are familiar with what's where.  Finally feeling comfortable walking around.  The challenge is to find an available comfy two-seat chair to snuggle up and read while still being able to look out at the ocean.

May 10.  In Barcelona, many people left and new passengers arrived.  We have a few more Asian people, and many Spanish.  Some of the crew shifted, too.  I am surprised at how many young families there are on board. What a challenge to bring a toddler on a cruise.
